Vacation 2014

Our family took a vacation to Sevierville, Tennessee back at the beginning of August. We had a fabulous time of rest and relaxation, and here are some pictures to prove it! :)

Aren't they sweet? :) This was our lunch break at Cade's Cove.

Ice Cream! :D *Some* people look like they may have a brain freeze, but we won't mention any names here. ;)

The outside view of the indoor water park. That big orange and white cone thing? Yeah, that's a slide with a drop-off, and it 's FUN! :)

Just Abigail...Beating Rachel in Go Karts. ;) May the best driver win...Aaaand that's ALL I'm going to say on that topic. ;)

We may not have won, but we sure looked the coolest. ;) Or in BJ's case, the most frightened... I asked him if my driving scared him (I didn't use the brake. At all.) He said no. But his face says yes.

Serious Sibling Floatie Boat Wars... They had these darn water squirters that got you SOAKED. When they said that you "don't get that wet".. Well, let's just say that they were violating the 9th Commandment.

BJ burning some rubber. :)

The rest of us, waiting on BJ to complete his rounds on the carousel...

We were told to strike a "bored" pose. I think we handled it quite nicely.

One of the big slides in the indoor waterpark. While the rest of us turned our backs and faces with fright at the incoming wave, (insert sarcasm here. *cough*) Abigail the Brave took it on like Superman. Literally.

He was having fun... I think.

These are the stairs that you have to climb to get to the water slides. There were 90. I counted.

Sarah - taking on the boogie boarding like a PRO. She's such a natural. Looks like she's been doing it all her life. She's just so dang good at it.

Or maybe not. Okay not.

Redneck Diving Board

Y'all, if you've never jumped off a tractor lift into a pond, you just haven't lived... It makes the best diving board ever! :D

Mr. Jason, you're the best! :)

*Explanation for why my arm is raised over my head in every picture... Directly after the warning "BE CAREFUL CLIMBING ON THE LIFT: IT HAS SHARP EDGES", I (of course) slice my index finger open while climbing on the lift and can't get it to stop bleeding...So I just held it closed and kept it above my head (cause I didn't have any duct tape...I kid). So instead of cannon balls and can openers, I did the Statue of Liberty & Bucking Bull Rider. ;)

                                                                  Happy Summer Y'all!

Greetings from Cornville!

CORN! Lots and lots of corn! But everybody knows the best way to make work easier is to do it with your friends, so here's our family and the Archie family putting up about 400 ears of corn together. :)

Yes, that's a cooler full of corn. Fun, huh? :)

the lovely, sticky job of cooking it...

We used knives, potato peelers, electric knives, & anything else we could think of to cut off the corn. Just by way of friendly announcement, DON'T EVER LET CORN JUICE DRIP INTO YOUR ELECTRIC KNIFE WHILE YOU ARE CUTTING CORN!!!!! I may or may not have shocked myself doing this very thing. Live and learn, people...Live and learn

The Silking of the Corn is not a fun job. It has never been a fun job & it never will be a fun job. That's why using a pressure washer is an awesome way to speed things up! :) I just love rednecking...
